Kameswara R. Upadrashta

President & Principal Consultant

PhD Chemical Engineering (Indian Institute of Technology Madras); Masters in Chemical Engineering Plant Design, and Bachelors in Chemical Engineering (Osmania University, India).  Affiliations:  PRAD Technologies (President & Principal Consultant, 1990-present), University of Minnesota (Associate Professor, 1986-91), University of Utah (Research Assistant Professor, 1984-86; Post-Doctoral Fellow 1982-84), and Indian Institute of Technology Madras (Senior Scientific Officer, 1972-82).

Kamesh has extensive experience as a consultant in solving rheology related problems for the chemical process industry including biomedical, cosmetics/toiletries, energy, food, pharmaceutical, polymer, and specialty products industries.  He has made fundamental contributions to research in the area of particulate/multiphase processes, specifically the liquid cyclones and various other unit operations/processes involving complex fluid systems.  In addition, Kamesh has edited/co-edited several text and reference books in chemical engineering most significant of which include the ‘Manual of Chemical Technology’ published with funding from Government of India in four volumes covering a broad spectrum of the chemical process industry, which was well received both by the industry and the academia.  His research interests now span rheological applications in the generation/synthesis of nanoparticles and nanodispersions and their utilization in heat transfer enhancement, nanocoatings, nanocomposites, nanofibers, and nanofilms.

Kamesh is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Society of Rheology, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, and the American Association of Cereal Chemists.
